We received this 2023 award for the painting of this substantial 2-storey home in St. Kilda East. It was in very poor condition with a lot of bubbling and peeling, so we had to strip a lot of paint and oil undercoat prior to painting. Given the age of the property and condition of the paintwork, we followed our lead painting processes to protect everyone. Our client was thrilled with the outcome. This 2021 award is for the painting of this fabulous heritage 2-storey home in St. Kilda. It was a bit unusual in that the windows and doors were already painted in 2 colours in gloss enamel and our client wanted to repaint in enamel, so we did that. There are over 70 windows. Ordinarily, we would change over to acrylic paint. Before commencing, we organised our carpenter to repair the 2^nd-storey balcony and replace rotten timber as required. We completed extensive preparation, especially with the gloss enamel surfaces, to ensure they would be smooth and glossy and the paint finish durable. We stripped some fascias and window sills and oil-undercoated those and all bare timber prior to painting. Due to the age of the property, we assumed there was lead paint underneath and followed our lead paint procedures when stripping paint. Painters St. Kilda East — We received a painting award for this project in 2017. The 2 photos above are of a complete exterior repaint of an apartment block in St. Kilda East. This was a fairly complex project due to the height, power lines and preparation required. We used scaffolding for one side of the building and a boom for the other 3 sides. We organised for the power to be isolated when the scaffolding was erected and removed to meet the power company’s requirements. We transformed this fantastic weatherboard home in Balaclava from dull to fabulous! We organised our carpenter to replace a lot of rotten timber and also completed significant preparation, including electric sanding, filling and gapping, before we could begin painting.

St. Kilda East is an inner suburb located 6kms south-east of the Melbourne CBD. It has a population of approximately 12,000 people and is part of the cities of Port Phillip and Glen Eira.

It is a densely populated and predominantly residential suburb with many apartment buildings. It does not have much public open space, with the exception of Alma Park.

St. Kilda East was first settled in the 1850s, with small cottages being built. Larger houses were constructed during the following 20 years and terraced housing began to be built during the 1870s.
