We received this 2023 award for the painting of this substantial 2-storey home in St Kilda East, very close to Elsternwick. It was in very poor condition with a lot of bubbling and peeling, so we had to strip a lot of paint and oil undercoat prior to painting. Given the age of the property and condition of the paintwork, we followed our lead painting processes to protect everyone. Our client was thrilled with the outcome. This 2021 award is for the painting of this fabulous heritage 2-storey home in St. Kilda. It was a bit unusual in that the windows and doors were already painted in 2 colours in gloss enamel and our client wanted to repaint in enamel, so we did that. There are over 70 windows. Ordinarily, we would change over to acrylic paint. Before commencing, we organised our carpenter to repair the 2^nd-storey balcony and replace rotten timber as required. We completed extensive preparation, especially with the gloss enamel surfaces, to ensure they would be smooth and glossy and the paint finish durable. We stripped some fascias and window sills and oil-undercoated those and all bare timber prior to painting. Due to the age of the property, we assumed there was lead paint underneath and followed our lead paint procedures when stripping paint. The above photos are of the Malvern Heart Centre. We painted both the inside and outside following the renovation of this iconic building in Malvern East. We were awarded a painting award from the Master Painters Association in 2018 for this project. Please click here to view photos of this project and others.

We had previously painted some interior rooms for our client in Elsternwick. A couple of years later, he asked us back to paint the front facade following render repairs. We undercoated the new render prior to painting and painted the render in Haymes Nearly White 3, with the dark trim in Haymes Dark Moss. The house looks fantastic in its refreshed colour scheme.

Elsternwick 3185

Elsternwick is situated 9kms south-east of the Melbourne CBD and is part of the City of Glen Eira. It has a population of approximately 9,000 people.

Elsternwick is named after Charles Ebden’s house, Elster. Elster is German for “magpie”. Charles Ebden was a pastoralist, businessman and parliamentarian representing the seat of Brighton. The area was previously known as Red Bluff.

Elsternwick is situated close to the beaches and city and is home to Elsternwick Park Golf Club.
